After all the twitter chat about the Great Brownie Bake Off this weekend, I thought it was only right that DNA gave them a go as well.
I found a recipe that was low in saturated fat and gluten free, thought what’s to lose by tiring them and might help keep the hips at a reasonable size!!
Pre heat oven to 180c
16in square cake tin
70g caster sugar
75g Ground almonds
100g Dark Chocolate
1 tsp ground filer coffee
25g chopped walnuts
3 medium eggs, separated
1 tsp vegetable oil
First line the cake tin, using the oil instead of butter. Then Melt the chocolate, while the chocolate is melting, whisk the egg yolks and the sugar till pale. Add the dry ingredients to the sugar and butter mix and the melted chocolate. Whisk the egg whites and then slowly add these to the mixture. Pour into the cake tin and cook for about 15-18 minutes.
The brownies were tasty, yes they did lack the extra gooeyness that comes from lashings of butter but actually they still had a good brownie texture!
So if you fancy a lower fat brownie give this one a go!! As you can see Aria liked them!!
