DNA – Weekend Wine Notes

Domaine de l’Arjolle, Vin de Pays des Côtes de Thongue, 2009

Wine Notes

Louis-Marie and Prosper Teisserenc replanted their vineyard with noble grape varieties, seeking advice from growers in Bordeaux as to how best to tend their vines. Now, with the benefit of older vines, they are making better and better wines – some of the best in the Languedoc. This is a deliciously fruity blend of young vines of sauvignon and viognier, light, refreshing and crisp.

Catena Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2009 Mendoza

Wine Notes

A blend of grapes from three, high altitude vineyard sites, the Luján de Cuyo vineyard 3,100’ (940m) elevation (40%) and the Tupungato vineyard 5,000’ (1,500m) elevation (60%) creating a wine of unique character that has balance, concentration and a strong varietal identity. A rich, broad, tropical fruit flavoured wine made with grapes from prime low-yielding vines given long, cool fermentation with natural wild yeast and aged in 100% French oak barrels. Showing notes of mango, banana and apple, with a hint of sweet spice and wet stone. Full yet clean on the palate, with pear and fig fruit flavours rounded off with fresh, crisp acidity.
